About

Once upon a time....

'Sticken & staunen'was born on a vacation in Great Britain. There I discovered CARON threads in a very expensive shop and bought lots of skeins without knowing what to do with them....
Germans don't know much about variegated threads, most of the people are used to work with DMC or Anchor - each color in a design has to be the same as in the model you have seen. This idea doesn't work when using variegated threads. So I started designing my own.
Now the designs of 'sticken & staunen' are very special - often simple but with surprising effects.

First exposition The first exposition was in February 2003.
There were only a few designs but people encouraged me to continue this new style.

There were many invitations to exhibitions and shows in 2003.

In February 2004 Lois Caron, Béatrice Orrière and me had a meeting in Paris on a big consumer show called 'L'Aiguille en fête'i (Festival of the needle), where Madame Orrière had a booth..
There Lois Caron saw the designs of 'sticken & staunen' for the first time. Her favorite design were the 'Branches' with the surprisingly combination of the colors 'Kelp' and 'Cedar'.

In Paris Lois Caron invited me to come to the TNNA-Show in Columbus, Ohio, in June 2004.
It was great to see my designs at the booth of The Caron Collection!

Today people look forward to meet 'sticken & staunen' at many consumer shows all over Germany.
